Transitioning from a 482 Visa to Permanent Residence

Are you currently on a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (subclass 482) and considering a more permanent future in Australia? The recent changes in Australia’s migration system offer you an exciting opportunity to make the transition to Permanent Residence (PR). Here’s a guide to help you navigate this process:

Understanding the Transition:

The Australian government is dedicated to creating pathways to PR for skilled workers. This means that as a current 482 Visa holder, you have the chance to secure your place in Australia for the long term.

Steps to Transition from 482 to PR:

  1. Nomination Requirements: Ensure your employer meets the nomination requirements for the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme 186 (ENS) and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme 187 (RSMS) Visa Subclasses.
  2. Occupational Eligibility: Verify that your nominated occupation aligns with the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) and that you continue to work in the same occupation.    There will no longer be reference to the Short or Medium Term Skill Migration Occupation Lists.
  3. Work Experience: Meet the reduced work experience requirements – working with your sponsoring employer for 2 out of the last 3 years whilst holding a 482 visa before 186 nomination.

Our experienced team is here to assist you in navigating these requirements and ensuring a smooth transition.
